Skills and character progression
A weapon’s quality and your character’s skill are separate. Skill affects the actions described in its entry; a base weapon damage table does not include every character bonus or combat roll.
Combat skills cover Swords, Knives, Clubs, Polearms, Spears, Blocking, Axes, Bows, Elemental Magic, Blood Magic, Fists, Pickaxes and Crossbows. Blocking concerns damage absorbed; magic skills also affect their resource costs.
Movement and exploration include Jump, Sneak, Run, Swim, Fishing, Dodge and Riding. Their effects differ: some improve movement or accuracy, while others reduce stamina use. Consult the individual skill instead of applying one universal bonus formula.
Wood Cutting, Cooking, Farming and Crafting support work around the base. The current game descriptions associate Cooking with cooking speed and bonus yields, Farming with cultivation and harvesting, and Crafting with crafting speed and building costs in stamina.
Death penalties depend on world settings. No skill-loss percentage is assumed here for every world; inspect the selected death setting before planning risky travel.
